Oneflare has closed: where to find a tradie now
Oneflare was retired on 30 June 2026 and now redirects to Airtasker. Your other options for finding a tradie, and how to check them.
If you have tried to find a tradie on Oneflare lately, you will have landed on Airtasker instead. That is not a glitch. Oneflare has closed. This guide explains what happened, where to find a tradie now, and how to check whoever you find, with a short section at the end for tradies who used to get work through Oneflare.
Has Oneflare closed?
Yes. Oneflare was owned by Airtasker, and Airtasker's help centre says the Oneflare brand and platform were retired on 30 June 2026 so the company could focus on Airtasker alone. Since then the Oneflare website and app send you to Airtasker. When we checked on 27 October 2026, oneflare.com.au still redirected there.
If you had a job or a conversation open on Oneflare, Airtasker told users to save anything they needed before the shutdown. If you are waiting on a tradie you found there, contact them directly with the details you have.
Where to find a tradie now
Oneflare's closing leaves a handful of ways to find someone. They work differently, and the differences matter.
Airtasker
You post a task, people make offers, and you choose one. Payment goes through Airtasker. As at 27 October 2026, its help centre says customers pay a one-off Connection Fee when they assign a task: from $9.95 to $59.95 including GST, depending on the task price, and waived for members. Airtasker covers everything from furniture assembly to specialised trade work, so check a licence carefully for anything regulated.
hipages
You post a job and it goes to matching businesses as a lead. hipages' own 2026 results report says up to three businesses can claim each lead, so expect up to three of them to contact you. Read hipages' current terms for anything it charges customers.
ServiceSeeking
Another Australian site where you describe a job and businesses send quotes. As with any platform, read how it works and what it charges before you post.
Word of mouth
Still the best filter there is. Ask neighbours, friends and local community groups who they used and whether they would use them again. A tradie who has worked on a house like yours, in your street, already knows the problems.
The BizzMate Marketplace
On the BizzMate Marketplace you describe the job once, add photos, and businesses near you that do that work are told and can send you an offer. You compare offers and choose one. Posting is free and there is no fee when you choose someone; you set up a free customer account to post. Your name, phone number and street address go only to the business you choose. Electrical, plumbing and gas jobs are shown only to businesses that have given a licence number. A job stays open for seven days. It is new, so in some areas there are not many businesses listed yet, and the form tells you before you post if nobody covers your area.
Write a job post that gets good offers
Whichever site you use, the offers you get are only as good as the job you describe. A tradie reading a vague post either guesses high to be safe or asks to come and look before pricing anything. A clear post gets firmer prices, sooner:
- Say what and where. "Replace the kitchen mixer tap, existing pipes, single-storey house" beats "plumbing job".
- Add photos. Two or three, including one wide enough to show access.
- Give the timing honestly. "Leaking now" and "any time in the next month" attract different people and different prices.
- Mention anything unusual: pets, parking, steep blocks, a second storey, an old switchboard.
Check the tradie, whichever site you use
- The licence. Electrical, plumbing, gas and most building work need a state licence. Look it up yourself on the state register, free. Our guide on how to check a tradie's licence has the links for each state.
- A written quote. Get the scope, what is excluded, and the total including GST, in writing.
- Like for like. If you get several quotes, make sure they cover the same work. See how to compare quotes from tradies.
- The ABN and insurance. Ask for both, and look the ABN up on the free government ABN Lookup.
- Deposits. Be wary of a large deposit up front for a small job. Your state's fair trading office explains the rules for building work.
For tradies who got leads on Oneflare
Airtasker's notice to businesses says Oneflare auto-renewals were turned off from 1 June 2026, so no more subscription or renewal fees were charged, and existing credits could be used until the shutdown. Airtasker is inviting former Oneflare businesses across, where making an offer is free and a service fee of 12.5% to 20% plus tax comes out of jobs you win.
It is also a good moment to make sure customers can find you without a lead platform in the middle: a Google Business Profile, a page of your own, and a habit of asking happy customers for a review. You can also list your business on the BizzMate Marketplace; during the pilot there is no fee for the page or for the jobs it brings in.
This guide is general information, not legal or financial advice. Platform fees and terms change, so check each site's current terms before you post or sign up.
